Leading the Collaborative will be the inaugural Regional Economic Competitiveness Officer (RECO). The RECO will guide the grant’s strategy, working as a convener and collaborator to harness the capacity of our diverse Collaborative and ensuring that each of the grant’s five projects achieves its goals individually and collectively. The RECO will lead development of an annual summit to share progress with a broad set of community partners and ensure adherence to the grant’s requirements and recommendations. Vice President for Research and Biotechnology, Western University of Health Sciences
Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) seeks a visionary, transparent and experienced leader to serve as its next vice president for research and biotechnology (VPRB). Reporting directly to the provost and chief academic officer, the incoming vice president for research and biotechnology will be a key advisor and thought partner to the University Executive Operations Team led by President Robin Farias-Eisner, who began his tenure at WesternU in March 2022 as its third president. The VPRB will oversee the university’s entire research enterprise, supporting interdisciplinary research and innovation that impacts society for the greater good. Associate Vice President of Innovation, San Diego State University
Reporting to the Vice President for Research and Innovation, the Associate Vice President for Innovation (AVPI) will work closely with the Vice President and university leadership to both strategize and execute the engagement of the SDSU innovation ecosystem.  The AVPI will provide leadership and programmatic oversight of commercialization and technology transfer activities, and entrepreneurial support for faculty, students, and staff.  They will also support internal and external strategic partnerships in furtherance of research, innovation, and the development of the SDSU Mission Valley Innovation District.
