UVA and CvilleBioHub Secure $4.3M for New Biotech Accelerator

CvilleBioHub, in partnership with the University of Virginia, has received $4.3 million as part of a larger $14.3 million GO Virginia grant to establish the region's first laboratory accelerator. The facility, to be located at UVA's North Fork Discovery Park, will support early-stage life sciences companies developing therapeutics, medical devices, and digital health solutions. Read more.

Cummings Research Park to Host Glaukos Corp., a Pharmaceutical & Medical Technology Company

Glaukos Corporation, a pharmaceutical and medical technology company that specializes in treatments for glaucoma, corneal disorders and retinal diseases, will build an $82 million R&D and manufacturing facility in Huntsville's Cummings Research Park. The facility will be located on 25 acres adjacent to the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. Read more.

George Mason University Unveils Cutting-Edge Research Hub, Fuse

George Mason University has unveiled Fuse, a $254 million cutting-edge research hub, set to open in Fall 2025 as part of the state's Tech Talent Investment Program. The 345,000-square-foot facility, funded by George Mason, the state and Edgemoor Infrastructure and Real Estate, will house specialized labs for robotics and virtual reality. Read more.

Bedrock, a Detroit real estate firm, has unveiled plans for a 14-acre innovation district at a former jail site in the city, marking a significant transformation for the long-vacant property. ASU Research Park to Host One of three CHIPS for America R&D Flagship Facilities

The U.S. Commerce Department and Natcast — the operator of the National Semiconductor Technology Center — announced the selection of Arizona as the site of the co-located NSTC Prototyping and NAPMP Advanced Packaging Piloting Facility. Located at ASU Research Park, this site is the third of three CHIPS for America research and development flagship facilities. Read more.

Charles Day Dilks, Past AURP President and Seminal Leader in the Development of Research Parks, Dies at 83

Charles "Charlie" Day Dilks, a founding member and former President (1998-2000) of AURP, passed away peacefully at home on December 28, 2024, at age 83. A pivotal figure in research park development, Dilks helped establish AURP in 1986 and guided its transformation into today's thriving network through his mentorship and leadership. Read more.
